Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to lead a large-scale modernization initiative for a government agency. This role is responsible for end-to-end project delivery, ensuring successful execution within scope, schedule, and budget while meeting all business, technical, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, governance, and stakeholder management skills to drive cross-functional alignment and deliver strategic outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead full project lifecycle execution from initiation to closure
- Manage scope, schedule, budget, and resource planning
- Coordinate with executive leadership, business stakeholders, technical teams, and vendors
- Ensure compliance with statewide technology standards and procurement policies
- Drive risk management, issue resolution, and mitigation strategies
- Oversee change management and change control processes
- Integrate service management practices and ensure operational readiness
- Establish project governance, reporting, and quality control frameworks
- Provide strategic direction and maintain accountability across all project phases
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Senior IT Project Manager (no entry-level candidates)
- Active certifications: PMP, PMI-ACP, CSM, and/or SAFe
- Strong experience in government or public-sector projects (preferred)
- Expertise in project governance, risk management, and compliance
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives
